Julia Ride USMC Sgt. John Peck

While  serving his first tour, USMC  Sgt John Peck suffered a traumatic brain  injury from an improvised  explosive device (IED). Once healed, John was  determined to rejoin his  brothers. Two years later, he returned to his  unit in Afghanistan.

During   his second tour, on May 24, 2010, John was severely injured by another   IED. In that moment he recalls thinking, “I don’t want to die here,   please don’t let me die here.”

The  explosion immediately took  both of his legs and his left arm. Later,  due to a severe infection,  his right arm was amputated as well. John  was in a coma for three  months. It took him over two years to recover.

On  Veterans Day  2012, John was handed the keys and iPad to his new custom  specially  adapted smart home in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

After  several  years John was forced to sell his beautiful custom home and  move to  Edgewater NJ for a shorter commute for his therapy.

In  August  of 2016, John underwent a bilateral arm transplant. Doctors say  that  with this transplant, John will eventually be able to feel,  grasp, and  hold on again.

He is presently pursuing a degree in political science.

He is joined now with his beautiful wife of 4 years, Jessica.

Julia Ride

Although we ride in the memory of our fallen Piscataway Police Officer Julia Ceres.

This  years Julia Ride we ride for USMC Sgt. John Peck. Reading this Marine's Bio, it just brings you to your knees, just imagining how he went through this,  non the less survived this. He is a Marine! He had a mind set to  Adapt and Overcome, that's what allowed him to deal with his physical  and mental state.

Today Sgt. Peck lives here in NJ with his beautiful wife of 4 years, Jessica.

Although  the military has paid for most of his medical bills and other  organizations have assisted in living conditions in another state, he  and his wife had to move to NJ.

Now  Sgt. Peck needs our assistance in renovations to his home in Edgewater,  NJ. Presently he has contractors assisting with renovations to  improving his accessibility to their bathrooms and other areas of their  home so he can maintain some sort of normalcy living there with his  wife.
